Moritz Ernecker Claims Italian 125cc Title

Moritz Ernecker of Norman KTM Factory Racing was crowned Italian 125cc Champion on Sunday in Mantova. Ernecker won both motos, remaining unbeaten throughout the championship.

A strong start in the first moto enabled him to take the lead early on. He set a high pace and delivered a flawless race. Throughout the moto, he built a safe gap and took the win by a margin of twenty seconds. In the second moto, he once again took control of the race early on and managed it from the front. Ernecker also won the second moto, meaning he claimed victory in all four motos of the championship.

Strong start to 2026 for Moritz Ernecker

Moritz Ernecker of Norman KTM Racing has made a strong start to the 2026 season. Ernecker won both motos of the Italian 125cc Championship in Alghero, making him the first leader in the championship standings.

There had been a lot of rain in the days leading up to the event, which made the sandy surface heavy and demanding. Ernecker quickly found a good feeling on the circuit and set a strong second-fastest time in the timed practice session, just a fraction slower than the fastest rider.

Ricardo Bauer suffered a setback when he crashed and injured his wrist. As a result, he was unable to continue riding for the remainder of the day.

In both motos, Ernecker got off to a good start and quickly took the lead of the race. In both the first and second moto, he rode consistently and smoothly over the difficult circuit, steadily extending his advantage. He won the first moto with a 43-second lead, and in the second moto he again finished with a margin of more than twenty seconds.

With a double moto victory, Ernecker claimed the overall win for the day and is now the first leader in the championship. Next weekend, the second round of the championship is scheduled to take place in Mantova.
